ANNUAL MATCHPLAY KNOCKOUT COMPETITION
Matchplay Knockout Format and Rules
The Committee organises the Competition - which is only open to Members - each year. This year we have introduced a €5 buy in fee, with prizes being awarded as below. this should be paid to the treasurer before games commence.
The draw is made prior to the start of the competition and will proceed in a bracket format whereby each winner goes through to the next round. Further draws are NOT made at each round.
Players use their latest PLAYING handicaps as visible on their Squabbit profile on the day of the match.
The lowest handicap player reverts to scratch and gives their opponent 3/4 of the differential between their handicaps in shots - with the calculation being done on the Competitors' then current Playing Handicaps for the course actually being played.
The winner is the player who wins by 1 or more holes over 18 holes.
Drawn matches should be replayed unless another format is agreed by the players.
Should a player not be able to play by the cut off period the other player will be the default winner.
Players decide when and on which course they will play. The loser should send the result to the Secretary by What's App message or email.

- Preliminary Rounds - April 30th
- First Round - May 31st
- Quarter Finals - June 30th
- Semi Finals - July 31st
- Finals to be played prior to the end of season awards dinner usually around mid September.
- First Place €40 + winners trophy
- Second Place €30
- Third Place. €15
